Queensland Motorways receives high commendation at National Awards

Last night Queensland Motorways received a high commendation at the National Public Relations Institute of Australia Awards in its Special Event/Observance category for the Second Gateway Bridge Community Day. The commendation was received after winning the State Award for Excellence last month.

The Second Gateway Bridge Community Day was held on Sunday 12 May 2010 to commemorate the completion of the bridge. The event was one of Queensland's largest ever single day community gatherings with 175,000 people visiting the new bridge.

The event included an official naming ceremony where the twin bridges became known as the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges - North and South.
